Residents sitting in the garden

Making the Most of the October Sun

At Hazelwood Care Home, the sunny weather has stayed with us a little bit longer, so we have been making the most of it in our private garden.

One afternoon, we invited Nick to come and visit us at our care home in Longfield, Kent. Nick is a guitarist and singer who we regularly welcome to our home and he puts on an intimate performance for our residents and staff.

Due to the unseasonal yet lovely weather, this time we decided that Nick should perform for us outside in the sun, which our residents absolutely loved.

Our home enjoyed all of the rock n roll, soul, and folk songs that Nick performed and our residents loved singing along and having a little dance.

We love inviting musicians into Hazelwood Care Home because we find that music brings us all closer whether that is through singing, dancing, or just listening to the tunes all together. When our musicians play songs from eras like the 50s, 60s 70s, and 80s, it provides great reminiscence for our residents too.

In addition to the music, we believe it is important to get our residents moving and simply ensuring our residents spend time outside can improve their mental and physical wellbeing. The afternoon was a great success and there were many happy faces for the rest of the afternoon.
