Our residents have enjoyed a lovely couple of days filled with tasty treats and seasonal creativity, from sampling different cheeses at a cheese and wine tasting afternoon to making their own colourful yarn pumpkins for autumn.
Monday's tasting session went down a treat, giving residents the chance to try different flavours and enjoy a relaxed afternoon together. With cheese, wine and a selection of fruit to enjoy, there was plenty to savour and talk about. Food tasting activities can be a lovely way to explore different flavours, share preferences and spark conversations about favourite foods and special occasions from years gone by.

The following day, we swapped the tasting table for some autumn-inspired arts and crafts. Our residents created their own yarn pumpkins, choosing different colours of yarn to bring their designs to life. Everyone could put their own stamp on their creation, making each pumpkin individual. It was wonderful to see residents getting involved, using their creativity and enjoying the process of making something by hand.

As the seasons change, autumn offers plenty of inspiration for activities at the home. From warm colours and seasonal decorations to cosy afternoons spent chatting and crafting, there are lots of ways to make the most of this time of year. Activities like these offer opportunities to express individual interests, enjoy a sense of achievement and spend quality time with others.
At Hazelwood Care Home, we enjoy creating a varied programme of activities that gives residents opportunities to try something different, revisit familiar interests and make everyday moments special. Whether it is sharing new flavours or getting creative with yarn and autumn colours, it is often the simple pleasures that bring people together.
We look forward to more seasonal activities and lovely moments shared together over the coming weeks.
