What’s Local to Hazelwood Care Home?

This county in the southeast has worked hard to acquire the moniker “Garden of England.” We recommend our residents and their visiting guests to visit the local area for plenty of brand new memories that were made to last a lifetime, whether that’s by exploring the various castle grounds and mazes scattered around the countryside, or seasonal fruit picking in the orchards.

Here at Hazelwood Care Home, we always recommend a family stroll through the Weald and Downs, an area dotted with pointy-roofed oast cottages and windmills, making a perfect setting for capturing those beautifully picturesque, sunny mornings. It’s definitely worth a visit!

Kent offers a diverse range of activities, for all ages and interests. In historic Canterbury, where the Romans first constructed their mighty walls, Chaucer wrote many a medieval tale, and Marlowe performed Elizabethan plays, history teachings come to life and can be enjoyed just as much in the present day.

Alternatively, walk inside the peaceful cloisters of the majestic church, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Put on your walking boots and head for the county’s coastline pathways, which lead to the famed White Cliffs of Dover, which are a fantastic way to feel closer to the historic events that took place during World War II.

In and around Kent, you may sample some of the best wine, cider, and juices in the country. Our local area is brimming with award-winning vineyards, several of which provide free tours and tastings to those who like the finer things in life. Begin with Chapel Down Winery in Tenterden to try their tasty beverages, then head to adjacent Biddenden Vineyards for delectable bubbles and ciders.

Alternatively, submerge in 400 years of exploration at the world’s most authentic and whole dockyard from the Age of Sail. Peek through the periscope as you take the helm of the Victorian HMS Gannet, and perch on the open bridge of the Second World War Destroyer HMS Cavalier, visualising yourself on one of her chilly voyages.
