Celebrating the King’s Coronation

bbq celebrations

This month has been all about the King's Coronation and like many across the nation, we celebrated together this past weekend, as well as enjoyed many coronation-themed festivities in the lead-up.

In preparation for our celebrations, the residents took part in a number of activities including arts and crafts sessions. In these sessions, residents gathered together to make red, white, and blue decorations, bunting, and even their very own crowns. It was a magnificent team effort to create these showstopping table centrepieces.

As well as a fun and stimulating activity, these arts and crafts sessions were also the perfect opportunity for our residents to reminisce and share their own stories and experiences with the Royal Family.

Once the residents had crafted their beautiful crowns, we practiced our royal waves, and our care team even got involved. There were lots of laughs and big smiles from both our residents and staff members.

We also had an exercise and music class where the instructor incorporated the coronation theme into her session - adorning our residents with crowns, flags, and golden spoons as we sing to Shirley Bassey, the king of rock, and anything with a Royal connection. It has been so heartwarming to see our residents so happy and engaged.

With our resident's handmade decorations hanging proudly in our reception area, we welcomed families and members of the local community to join us in celebrating this momentous event in history.

Following a screening of the live event, we hosted a garden party where we all continued to celebrate with a guest singer and a delicious barbecue. We were so fortunate to have lovely weather and to top off our celebrations, we had our very own visit from the Ice Cream Man.

It was the perfect opportunity for families to meet each other and for our residents to engage in socialising. The residents enjoyed the music and many got up for a dance or two.

We are delighted that our residents, staff, and families were united at this time of celebration. With the warmer months approaching, our residents and staff have recently come together to spruce up our gardens with some colour and make them summer-ready. We look forward to welcoming relatives and members of the community back to our home and garden soon for more celebrations.
