A Heartwarming Collaboration with The Milestone Academy
Hazelwood Care Home in Kent, continues to build strong ties with the local community, embracing a spirit of inclusivity and warmth. The care home has become a hub for community engagement, regularly hosting visits from the local church and church tots groups. Adding a new dimension to this community involvement, Hazelwood has recently opened its doors to students from The Milestone Academy, a local special education needs school.
Every Wednesday, the care home comes alive with the laughter and creativity of the visiting students from The Milestone Academy, as they get stuck into arts and crafts activities alongside residents. The afternoons have become a cherished time for both the children and the residents, creating meaningful connections and creating a sense of togetherness.
This week's collaborative project took a festive turn, with the children and residents joining forces to craft beautiful Christmas wreaths. The atmosphere was filled with joy as the both groups worked together, sharing stories, laughter, and creative ideas. The finished wreaths now adorn Hazelwood, serving as a reminder of the bond formed through these heartwarming collaborations.
Hazelwood Care Home continues to exemplify the importance of community integration, demonstrating that shared moments of joy and creativity can bridge generational gaps and create a positive impact on the wellbeing of everyone involved.
As the holiday season approaches, the residents and students eagerly anticipate more shared activities that not only bring smiles but also strengthen the sense of community that makes Hazelwood a truly special place.
At Hazelwood Care Home, it is important to us that we take the time to learn about our residents and acknowledge their lives, experiences, and achievements. We do all that we can to recognise them through activities and events and celebrate them. We are proud of the person-centred approach that we have to both the personal and medical support that we provide to our residents.
