Things to do in Kent

Residents living in care homes in Kent have plenty to enjoy and discover in the local area. Nestled in the picturesque Kent countryside, there are many tranquil places that present perfect opportunities for getting some fresh air in the great outdoors, such as Trosley Country Park and Camer Park. Both are great trips out, where you can admire nature and wildlife, enjoy a picnic, or take the grandchildren for a play.

Located just a few minutes drive from Longfield train station and village, residents have a plethora of amenities such as public transport, a supermarket, bank, and multiple eateries. Residents and family members can also benefit from these and much more in popular cities Chatham and Maidstone, which are less than half an hour from Hazelwood Care Home. In the wider area of Kent, there are many local attractions that make for perfect family days out or group excursions for our residents. Whitstable is less than an hours drive from Hazelwood Care Home and residents can find a variety of things to see and do for all ages and interests. Residents can sit back in a coffee shop, spend an afternoon on the beach, enjoy ice creams at the harbour, or have a look around the independent shops followed by lunch in the town. However they wish to spend their time, they won’t be short of experiences in Kent.

Facilities at our Care Home in Kent

At Hazelwood Care Home, we place great emphasis on making sure residents feel safe, encouraged and able to continue to live their lives in whichever way they want. Part of that is to encourage independence, but also enable residents to pursue interests, continue hobbies and meet new people. Our Activities Team works hard to build relationships with the residents and learn what they like to do so that this can be incorporated into our weekly programme, which relatives are often invited to get involved with too.

When residents are not out on a day trip in the local community, or participating in an activity at the home, there is plenty of other things on offer to keep them entertained and stimulated. Residents who like to discover new films or read a good book can do both in the comfort of their own home, with our Cinema Room and Library offering comfortable seating and a variety of titles to get stuck into. Our beauty salon and Garden and Sensory Room also greatly benefit our resident’s mental and physical wellbeing, and we actively encourage our residents to take full advantage of these fantastic facilities.

Residential Care in Kent

At Hazelwood Care Home, we support residents who may find it difficult with daily activities and therefore can no longer live independently or those who wish to benefit from the companionship a care home offers. All residents are provided with bedrooms that come beautifully decorated and furnished with en suite facilities and modern comforts, enabling residents to relax, have time to themselves, and welcome loved ones and friends.
