Valentines Day Celebrations

valentines day celebrations at Hazelwood

Hazelwood Care Home took the time to celebrate Valentine's Day with our residents, ensuring that they all got the opportunity to celebrate the day of Love.

In an afternoon of celebrating, we invited back Dave Smiler a local singer who is a regular and resident favourite at Hazelwood. David serenaded the residents with a whole range of love songs, along with some old-school classics.

Residents loved spending the afternoon singing and dancing along to the music.

Music is so important within care homes, and is great for improving wellbeing, whilst also inspiring reminiscence and communication, within a social environment. This is essential for those living with dementia as it can help to ensure a sense of identity and positive memories, through movement and the improvement of cognitive skills.

Our Valentine's activities didn't just end there... residents also took part in some Arts & Crafts sessions creating some themed decorations for the care home and creating their own Valentine's cards. The creativity of the residents was inspiring for our staff. And of course, no celebration can be complete without some sweet treats, residents enjoyed tucking into some Valentine-themed cakes.

Our activities team at Hazelwood, are always looking for new and exciting ways to keep residents entertained and engaged within the care home. Our varied activities programme is just one of the ways that we can support your loved one. For more information, contact our expert team!
