Welcoming the New Year with Music and Song at Hazelwood

The New Year began on a joyful note at Hazelwood Care Home as we welcomed the talented Michael Lack for a special musical performance. His visit brought energy, warmth, and plenty of smiles as residents gathered together to enjoy an afternoon filled with music, singing, and dancing.
Michael entertained everyone with a wonderful mix of Christmas favourites, New Year tunes, and well-loved songs from across the decades. Accompanied by the smooth sound of his saxophone and his singing, the performance quickly had residents tapping their feet and singing along. It was heartening to see so many people joining in, whether by clapping, humming, or dancing from their seats.

Music has a special way of bringing people together, and this session was a perfect example. Familiar melodies sparked memories and encouraged conversation, with residents sharing stories connected to the songs they remembered. Staff were delighted to join in too, helping to create a relaxed and lively atmosphere throughout the home.

At Hazelwood, we believe that music is a powerful tool for connection and joy. Live performances allow residents to engage in a way that feels natural and uplifting, while also offering gentle movement and mental stimulation. Michael’s visit was enjoyed by everyone and left a lasting impression long after the final note was played.
We would like to thank Michael Lack for sharing his talent with us and helping us welcome the New Year in such a memorable way. His performance brought happiness, energy, and a wonderful sense of celebration to our home, and we hope to welcome him back again in the future.
