Mary Poppins, Mother’s Day, Music for Health, and more

We have been very busy this month at Hazelwood Care Home in Longfield, from rediscovering the wonders of Mary Poppins to celebrating the mother figures in our lives and getting moving to music.

Rediscovering Mary Poppins

We dived deep into the world of Mary Poppins this March, learning fun facts, taking part in quizzes and karaoke, and welcoming Holly Lovelock to our home to sing songs from the much-loved Disney film.

Our residents, relatives, and care staff thoroughly enjoyed the musical escapism, which added lots of cheer and lightness to our home. Residents and relatives are welcome to continue the Mary Poppins and Disney fun by using our cinema room to watch all their favourite films.

Making Memories this Mother's Day

For Mother’s Day, our very own Jill was busy organising and preparing some lovely vases for our residents to enjoy some daffodils.

We welcomed lots of family members to the home and we all indulged in some lovely Mother's Day cupcakes. It was a wonderful day that we enjoyed together, celebrating the mother figures in our lives and reminiscing on special memories.

Music For Health

During March, we had our ever-popular 'Music for Health' session which sees our lovely guest Lynne join us at the home for some musical, active fun.

Sessions are held on a regular basis and residents are provided with instruments and encouraged to sing and dance along to popular songs.

Our residents love the sessions so much and everyone gets involved with props, instruments, giggles, and banter. We also love the sessions for the wonderful benefits it has on our resident's physical and mental health, as it is a stimulating activity that brings lots of smiles to our resident's faces.

St Patrick's Day Celebrations

We celebrated St Patricks at Hazelwood Care Home with week-long preparations and special celebrations on the day itself.

Our residents enjoyed making decorations in our arts and crafts group and learned some fun facts about Ireland. On the day, we decorated our dining rooms with bunting and our art project and enjoyed talking about all things Irish over dinner, followed by a glass of Guinness.

Celebrating our Olive's 99th Birthday

Birthdays are very special to us here at Hazelwood Care Home and we go above and beyond to make thema treat for our residents.

This month, we had the joy of celebrating Olive's 99th Birthday. Olive received two birthday cakes, presents, cards, and lots of love from our care staff and her friends in the home. We truly hope Olive felt spoilt on her special day.

If you would like to find out more about our luxury, all-inclusive care home, then we welcome you to get in touch with a member of our team who will be happy to arrange a tour of our home and answer any of your questions.
