At The Hazelwood, we understand first-hand the effects Dementia has on not only the individual with the condition but also their loved ones and because of this we wanted to participate in Dementia UK's '1 Million Steps for Dementia'.

This summer challenge was created to raise awareness about the effects of Dementia. Staff, Residents and family members all took part in the summer challenge and in total we achieved 2,252,993 steps!

What a fantastic achievement from everyone who participated in the challenge. To celebrate the massive achievement we hosted a tea party and invited everyone to join in.

The main aim of the challenge was to raise awareness and show off what you can achieve with some teamwork.

At Hazelwood Care Home, our objective is to ensure that every resident finds comfort and a sense of belonging in their new living space while also meeting all their needs. With our extensive expertise in Dementia Care and a dedicated team experienced in assisting those with memory loss, we are committed to delivering unparalleled care within a welcoming and secure environment.

Located on the ground floor of our residence is a sensory room that is highly utilised by our residents with dementia. This space has proven to be invaluable in enhancing communication skills, fostering concentration and creating a tranquil atmosphere. Our ultimate aim is to provide personalised care that empowers each individual to reach their fullest potential and enjoy a joyful and contented life.
